[Abk. für Encapsulating Security Payload IEEE Standard, dt. »IEEE-Standard für Nutzlast mit eingebetteter Sicherheit«], eine von der Vereinigung der Elektro- und Elektronikingenieure (IEEE) vorgeschlagene Ergänzung zum Internetprotokoll (IP), die Vertraulichkeit, Datenintegrität und Authentizität von Datagrammen sicherstellt, die über das Internet übertragen werden. Dabei wird ein Teil des Headers und das gesamte Datagramm (die sog. Nutzlast, engl. Payload) verschlüsselt und mit einer Prüfsumme versehen. So kann weder die Senderadresse noch die Nutzlast verändert werden, ohne dass der Empfänger dies bemerken würde; in Abhängigkeit vom verwendeten Kryptographieverfahren ist auch eine Authentifizierung möglich.
